About The Event
Float tube, pontoon boat, ladder, private boat - fishing for Lahontan Cutthroat Trout for three days and two nights. Shared lodging at Crosby’s Lodge (one 7-person trailer, with 2 bathrooms has been reserved), contact Dave Bear if you want to share the trailer. Cost of lodging is $50 per person for two nights. If all beds are not filled, cost will be adjusted upward accordingly - to assure that everyone pays the same amount. If you want to obtain your own lodging, you are welcome to join the group for fishing. Crosbys phone is 775-476-0400 if you plan to make your own reservations.

Fish for: Lahontan Cutthroat Trout
Fishing Strategy: Stillwater fishing from float tube/pontoon boat/power boat/ladder
- Rods: 5 wt to 8 wt;
- Lines: 6 to 9 wt sinking line; floating line and indicator with chironomids can work too.
- Leaders: 6 to 7 ft , longer for indicator nymphing
- Tippet: 10 to 12 lb test
- Flies: Many flies work, including woolly buggers (size 4-6), midges (size 12-16), foam beetles(size 8-10), nymphs (size 12-16).
- Other Gear: float tube or pontoon boat; fins, waders, pfd (floatation device), sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, gloves, anchor, BIG NET, warm clothes
What participants need to know: Send a check made out to David Bear (at 14925 Old Washington Road, Nevada City, CA 95959) for $50 to guarantee your bed in the trailer. Checks will not be cashed until we are sure this fishout will not be canceled due to weather.
Plan to bring food and drinks for yourself for two suppers, two lunches, and two breakfasts. Suppers can be shared/pot-luck if all are in agreement with that.
The drive to Pyramid takes about 2.5 hours from Grass Valley and we will plan to meet at the lake (Warrior Point) at noon on the 14th. Check in to the trailer is usually done after 3 PM, so we will will plan to fish during he afternoon - before check-in.
Tribal fishing permits can be purchased at Crosby's for $11 per day ($10 for seniors). You can also get tribal permits on-line by logging in to pyramidlake.us. A Nevada license is not required.
Be prepared for cold weather and big fish.
