Walk, wade or paddle. Fish for trout, large and small. Wet and dry fly.
Independence Lake has a sustaining population of Lahonton Trout and Webber was first stocked with Lahonton 2 years ago and will be stocked again this year. The Webber fish are small but there are still some Brown’s and Rainbows from the time this was a private fishing preserve.

Details: Fish For: Rainbow, Brown, Lahonton
Fishing Strategy: Float Tubes for the lakes. Walk and wade for the streams and rivers.
Recommended Gear: Rods: 5 or 6 wt. Lines: floating and intermediate sinking. Leaders: 4,5,6. Tippet: 4,5,6. Flies: Streamers, midges, dries. I will try for a bug report before we go.
What participants need to know: Diane and I have reserved sites, 8 and 9 in the North Shore campground. We can accommodate 4 tents per site. Reservations for available sites can be made through the Truckee Donner Land Trust Web site.
There is no water so you must bring what you believe you will need for your stay or plan on driving elsewhere to fill up.
