About The Event

Important: Call The Fly Shop, Redding to reserve and pay for your place, 530-222-3555 (Ask for anyone at reservation desk to pay.)  State that you are with the GCFF group. $150 full day, $90 1/2 day. 

Limit of 8 members since Lake is not very large.

GCFF policy requires all participants must have had COVID vaccinations (both, unless J&J vaccine) two weeks prior to the event.

The arrival time is flexible to accommodate both full day and 1/2 day participants.  The half-day rate allows fishing for 5 hours.

If the trip leader decides the day is unfishable due to the weather forecast, we'll re-schedule for a later date.  This will occur several days prior to the event.

Fish: Plenty of trout (14 - 16"), bass and bluegill

Fishing Strategy: Stripping leach patterns, indicator nymphing, dry dropper combos, poppers for bass, possible dries for trout. 

Rods: 4W - 6W

Lines: Floating, Intermediate,  sinking.

Leaders / Tippet: 9ft 3X or 4X, with 2-3ft 4X tippet.

Flies: Buggers, nymphs, damsels, dries.  Black or shiny dark Pyramid Lake beetle, small black sparkle bugger w/or w/o beadhead. Balance leach under an indicator.  Your favorite bass flies, including poppers.

Gear: Float tubes, pontoon boats, Fins, PFD's.  Three 14 ft. jon-boats are available for $25/day; make arrangements with The Fly Shop.

Note: Electric boats are permitted. Gas engines prohibited. 

Lunch: Bring your own lunch and water. Chair for lunch and social distancing.

Take Pictures: Camera or Phone. AND For the Newsleter 

After trip: Please send photos and comments about the trip to the Fish-out Leaders after the trip, so photos and experiences may be shared with members in the next newsletter.
